The lowdown on heat pumps!

What is a heat pump?

There are two types of heat pumps which we work with - air source and ground by source. An air source heat pump works by extracting warmth from the outside air before concentrating it and transferring it indoors, ground source extracts the heat from the ground before following the same process. They are usually located outside a home and look a bit like an air conditioning unit.

Why do we need heat pumps?

Most homes in the UK use gas boilers for heating which cause a lot of pollution. The fossil fuels used in our homes for heating and cooking make up more than a fifth of our carbon emissions. Heat pumps are an essential need in the journey towards meeting our carbon emission targets.

Why do we need heat pumps?
