Who Qualifies for The Boiler Upgrade Scheme?
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme is designed to help as many people as possible make the switch to low-carbon heating – but there are a few key boxes to tick before you can access the grant.
First, you need to own the property. Whether that’s your main home, a rental or even a small commercial space. The scheme is open to homeowners, landlords and small business owners across England and Wales.
You’ll also need a valid Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) from the last 10 years. To qualify, your EPC shouldn’t have any outstanding recommendations for cavity wall or loft insulation – your property needs to be reasonably energy-efficient already.
The scheme is for replacing fossil fuel systems like gas, oil or electric heating (not existing heat pumps), and installations must be carried out by an MCS-certified installer – which we are.
